With the powerful addition of GM Varuzhan Akobian to their roster in 2010, supplementing their already strong team, the Sluggers looked prime to make a Championship run. But, as often is the case, things in the USCL never are as easy as expected as Akobian's fair distance from the team together with the Sluggers' usual rock, GM Serper, being unavailable to play, didn't leave Seattle with nearly as many options at the top as they might have hoped.

Despite these impediments and a slow start to the season, the Sluggers fought bravely and managed to snag the final playoff spot in the West with a nice late season run though their weaker regular season wound up haunting them in their Quarterfinal elimination.

But with the end of 2010 clearly showing how strong their team can be when at their best, it's certain that Seattle will be aiming even higher in 2011. With both their top two players from last season, Akobian and FM Costin Cozianu, returning as well as one of their old veterans, IM Georgi Orlov rejoining, the Sluggers look once again to be a very strong team and a definite Championship contender. As always in the USCL, only time can determine if things can go their way this season to finally give them the Championship they so crave.
